Customer Testimonials

Michael and Carbon

“When I was a boy, I loved two things: my family dog Lady and riding on the back of my dad’s motorcycle.

As I got older and moved into my own home, many things had changed, but I still loved dogs and motorcycles. I had gotten my own motorcycle and dog but always found myself having to decide between taking my dog Carbon in the truck or riding alone on my bike to enjoy an afternoon.

Everything changed when I met Tim and his Ruff Rack with Darwin, his 90 pound bulldog, on the back. He had created a product in which I was always looking for but could not find. A safe and secure way to travel with my dog. Tim is a very kind and professional man as well as incredibly skilled in his trade. I was grateful that he agreed to make the first ever customer Ruff Rack. Carbon and I have enjoyed thousands of miles together since. You cannot put a price on the precious small amount of time you get to spend with your dog on this planet, but it’s been worth every penny spent and more. The Ruff Rack is the safest and most secure product on the market with roll cage quality steel and welding, mounting directly to the frame of the motorcycle. I can’t thank Tim enough for combining my two favorite things and the memories he has given Carbon and I on the road together.”

Roland and Bruno

“I recently had a Ruff Rack built for my best buddy Bruno and me.

So, here’s a little about me. I’ve been riding on and off since I bought my first mini bike for fifty bucks on payments from my buddies father when I was 11 years old with money I received from mowing lawns and throwing the news paper. My first street legal bike was a Honda Magna 750 back in the late 80’s when I had Honda money and Harley dreams. lol

So, now I have a Harley CVO Street Glide ( my dream bike).

As for Bruno, he is a 85lb 18 month American Bulldog/pit bull terrier mix. He came into my life by accident. I went to dinner alone at an outdoor patio restaraunt in the hill country that I frequent, these kids were walking around with an 8 week 9lb puppy (Bruno) after a couple short conversations/offers with their Grandmother and Mother, well I came home with Bruno. He has been a real blessing to my life. He loves long rides and his favorite thing to do is play fetch/catch especially if it’s in the river or lake.

I had been looking for a contraption for Bruno, because I rarely rode anymore. Did not want to leave him alone too much. I ran across a few options. Did not want him on a trailer because of the loud exhaust and fumes. The sidecar option just didn’t sound like fun to me. Then there were some home made contraptions I ran across, and a couple other products. After seeing the Ruff Rack, the quality of the build, and speaking with Tim, I knew this was the right fit for Bruno and I.

Tim sent me pictures and texts throughout the build. He is truly a great craftsman.

So now Bruno and I ride out to the river or lake and play catch/fetch anytime the weather is nice. We both love the experience and I could not be happier with my purchase. This has made a great impact on our lives.

Thank you Tim and Ruff Rack!!!!”

Deb and Violet

“I started riding a Honda Shadow 750 in September 2015 so I could spend time riding alongside my husband Tim and our dogs Darwin and Clover in our sidecar rig. We enjoyed riding that way, but Tim longed for being able to lean into curves so he decided to build a device that could be secured to his motorcycle’s frame that would also provide safety and protection for the dog.

As Tim developed different prototypes of what is now the Ruff Rack, I was often his test rider. It was very helpful to Tim and his design process that he got a lot of feedback from not only a small woman but also a novice rider. It’s been very valuable since half of his customers are women. Eventually we finally found the right build for us. (Shout out to Mike Morrissey for having trust in the product and being our first customer!) As we rode along the back roads of Middle Tennessee, we were often asked about the availability of the Ruff Rack. We had a desire to share riding with our loyal companions and other like-minded people and Tim decided to start producing them.

After several years of accident free riding, I had an unfortunate incident in October 2023 with Violet on the bike with me. Earlier in the day, we had a customer come out from Texas and we rode a portion of the Natchez Trace Parkway – what a beautiful ride it was – and the accident occurred on our way home at the end of the day. We were on I-65 around 6:15 pm and I grabbed too much front brake causing me to drop the bike on the left side going 60 mph. Thankfully, ATGATT (my gear) prevented any serious injury to me and Violet stayed secure in her Ruff Rack as we slid down the busy interstate. After we moved to the shoulder and assessed everything, Violet immediately jumped back on the bike – she still loves to ride. Not only did the Ruff Rack save Violet from injury, I believe it helped prevent the bike from flipping over on top of me.

This most unfortunate “test” proved Tim’s concept to have a safe way to ride with our dogs. After this accident, Tim was considering shutting the whole thing down, but I pointed out that it saved our dog and that it was worth continuing. After all these years, I can’t imagine a safer way to ride with my dogs.”
